About johnny Matt
John Matthews also known by stage name Johnny Matt was born in Northeast Philadelphia and grew up in the Wissinoming section of the city. He grew interest in music when he found his father’s snare drum at a young age. He learned his father used to be in marching band in high school and learned some cadences from him. Johnny Matt’s brother started playing Bass and Violin in high school but never stuck with it. Johnny Matt grew up in religious household where his family had to attend church every Sunday. Johnny Matt joined his church choir and fell in love with singing and the sound of the Piano. He would mess around on it before church and wanted to learn but his parents didn’t have money for lessons. Later, as Johnny got older, he started writing poems in school and entered Playwright contest. He later went on to get one of his poems published. Johnny went on to later learn a few chords on the guitar from a Scout Master. Later that year he brought his first guitar and started to take lessons. Johnny Matt has playing now for a little over 20 years and turned his poetry into writing songs. He has recorded two full albums back in 2004 and 2006. Journey to John’s World and Attack of the Freakin Balls. He has released two singles last year All I want for Christmas and Conovirus 19. Johnny has been a Finalist in the Songwriting Category 2021 ISSA Awards. He also has been a finalist in Songwriting World Awards. He is currently in the process of working on an EP with new music.
